Watching stuff with Sophia
Jan. 8th, 2019 06:39 pmSophia soundlogic and I recently finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It was the first time watching it for me, but not for Sophia. I did not realize quite how many FMA:B jokes Tumblr makes until I finished the show, though I had still seen a lot of posts about the show before watching it.
I would recommend it, if you have time to watch a TV show and are up for watching something with its general themes. It's very popular, but even with all the circulating content about the plot I still found myself surprised by many things that happened on the show.
I'm not sure how to feel about how I find the violence in Home Alone (which I saw when with Sophia's family at Christmas) dramatically harder to watch than that in FMA:B? I suppose the former was somewhat more photorealistic than the latter, and also I have burned myself with hot metal and stepped on uncomfortable things and stuff, as one does, and I have no experience with getting stabbed with a sword.
We are now watching Avatar, which is actually kind of making me wish I had gotten to see it in elementary school at the same time my friends were doing that, or at least in early high school or something. It's still good now, though, even though the fact that all the main characters are children is more salient. Sophia asked me if I knew how the show ended and I commented on Tumblr ship discourse for the sequel series and laughed.
