Bofa, the henway, and cousins are just a broader form of a knock-knock joke, where the intent is that the listener only figures out near the end that the speaker is, in fact, telling a knock-knock joke.

People sharing photos of food a lot creates incentives towards photogenic yucky food is not a problem with a phone app, even if a clickbait site claims otherwise. If all of your friends were doing this with a film camera and posting the photos on a bulletin board in the town square with nicknames on it, the same thing would happen. The problem with Instagram is not that people don't realize that when they share photos on Instagram, they're public and contain images of the thing photographed.

Even if in real life there exist people who prefer to be referenced with alternating pronouns, creating fictional characters with this preference and subsequently respecting that even in the narration can be really annoying. This is especially true in very short fiction where the character is not even named or explicitly gendered -- this gives the reader no time to get used to the character, and the character's highly inconvenient gender is never relevant.

Agri[photo]voltaics exist. If you consider the model where photovoltaic-generated electricity is an agricultural product, since sunlit land area is such an important input to it, this ought to not be too surprising, as various other synergies between agricultural product production exist. However, I at least tend to naively forget that solar power production depends on sunlit land area, so it did surprise me. Apparently in some regions adding solar panels to land even improves that land for the purpose of sheep grazing.

A video of a song Mozart probably pirated has been removed from YouTube, because The YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement. h/t sonata_green for mentioning the song in the first place.

Usually, I follow webcomics through Dreamwidth RSS. (I'd recommend most of the ones I follow. Maybe not alethia_comic_feed, it's rather political and I don't actually like its politics, I just ended up sucked into the plotline.) However, Freefall predates RSS and never started using it. It is very good.

Firefox removed Live Bookmarks. Hopefully, the decline in RSS usage that this reflects doesn't mean Wordpress.com and the like will stop supporting it in the sites they produce.

Huh, the concept of agrivoltaics is pretty cool! I found this article which mentions farmers turning away from their traditional crops: "Lawn grass had originally been farmed in this district, but the amount of abandoned farmland was increasing amid the weakening demand for such grass reflecting the decreasing number of golf courses in Japan." Ah, living in harmony with nature.

It probably has a much higher market share than 10% among people are likely to use rss, though.

apparently live bookmark usage is really low, which honestly isn't super surprising since live bookmarks aren't a great method

one of the articles about this said that rss was getting increasingly less popular anyway and was trying to treat ... pocket (which, by the way, i also can't remove from the url/search bar), for "content discovery," as an alternative. my main experience of pocket is it throwing, like, articles from vox and slate and such at me on mobile firefox and on the new tab page before i took them off?

rss is good and random algorithmic centralized crud is less good

You can get rid of all indications in the browser frontend of Pocket being a thing, including in the address bar and in the menus and so forth, by going into about:config and setting extensions.pocket.enabled to false.

I didn't particularly like live bookmarks but I did like Firefox showing me that the web page had an RSS feed.

Ehh, people are at least allegedly bragging about *ordering* these items, which implies ingestion. The problem is that they take pictures before eating and may experience sunk cost fallacy? IDK.

Ooh, neat, I didn't realize Freefall was still going. I migrated to mostly RSS and then lost the links to most of the comics I was manually following. And eee, I'm not the only one reading Skin Horse (I assume you're familiar with her previous work, Narbonic?)
