Sardine rice bowl
Dec. 25th, 2018 06:33 pmImprovised recipe inspired by a reddit thread on sardines:
Ingredients:
- leftover cooked rice (one bowlful)
- bean sprouts (very small handful)
- small can of sardines in olive oil
- green onion (one or two)
- avocado (half a small one or less of a large one, I think?)
- kimchi (small handful/a few tablespoons probably)
- sriracha
- fish sauce
Wash bean sprouts and green onion. Chop avocado, green onion, and kimchi.
Put rice and bean sprouts in a bowl. Cover and microwave until rice is hot and bean sprouts are slightly wilted. (The bean sprouts provide some extra water for rehydrating the rice, and add crunch to the bowl.) Add contents of sardine can including oil. Stir into rice, breaking up sardines into bite-size pieces as you do. (This allows the sardines to be heated without you having to microwave fish.)
Top bowl with chopped avocado, green onion, and kimchi. Carefully drizzle on a small quantity of fish sauce, then generously add sriracha to bowl.
